Quite some time ago one of my readers asked how I answer so many emails at a time. I did not answer properly at the time because I had not been flooded with them so as to speak. I always keep my screen clear each day………………until now. Buttttttt.
I have an answer for you dear reader, and I AM glad you are still reading my posts because some times it takes a long time to give an answer when you have not had the situation that has been given to you to answer. So….here it is.
I have been off my computer for about 15 days. When I finally got online yesterday, I had just under 600 emails. Now then. How do you deal with so many? Here IS my answer.
Highlight them all. Then scroll and look for certain names and nothing else. Those, click to save and delete all the rest. Done in about 30 minutes. I had only 6 that I responded to, or will respond to shortly.
I can now say to my reader, this is how I do it. You can too. It just takes guts to delete everything – but by the time you read all of it, it is ancient history, or deadlines have past a..n..d, no one cares.
Hope this helps you with your emails coming in all the time. I just don’t have the time for them all nor do I want to. It is a personal decision for each of us as to how much time we waste on people, many of whom we will never meet. This may sound harsh to some of you but I have been at this long enough to know that most do not take notes and do not remember and they leave it to me to remind them and I don’t go there any more. But even at that point you have to be careful because some are prepared with 20 questions when they get you on the phone and early on my mind takes that note and remembers it.
You really have to do your own thing, dear reader, with how you deal with so much. The computer can be a time waster and on the other hand it is a most useful furnishing for your desk. It is up to us to use our time wisely, no matter what, where, when, how, or why we approach the days of our lives. Press on my friend!!!!
Til next time. Marge.
