……that my computer would be down Friday (the 6th) or Monday (the 9th), at the latest. It is the 7th right now and the computer is still working so I will post one more time. When I do come back to write again, we will study Moses and his anger. You and I would certainly stand with him in his anger and we would stand with Moses and stomp our feet and scream at the top of our voices, it IS, “righteous anger” but God did not. In fact He penalized Moses in the most, worst way of all. We will see where you and I stand today on “righteous anger”???? For sure, God does not!!
And following that we will take a look at the Sermon on the Mount. The Lord teaches us thoroughly in that Sermon. And I wonder is the Sermon on the Mount today’s problems, and today’s (opposites) our sins. For instance He teaches, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” Peacemakers is the opposite of peacekeepers. No where in scripture are we to be peacekeepers because there is no such thing.
We will look at “poor in spirit”, “mourn”, “gentle”, “hunger and thirst”, “merciful”, “pure in heart”, “peacemakers”, “persecuted”, and “insulted”.
People say, “I have not committed adultery, murder, etc., I am a good person”. With this statement they look at themselves as being alright with God. But God says, “No. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” (Rom. 3:23). If we have not “sinned” in these ways then…….what ways do we sin!!
However before you think you are off the hook, when did you look with your eyes? “But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” (Matt. 5:28). The same is true if the woman looks at a man with lust, she has already committed adultery with him in her heart. That is a transgression which can go to the next step and then end up being “sin”. At the moment that a thought – ANY THOUGHT – that goes against the grain of God, needs to be confessed before it can become some thing more later on.
Remember Eve’s sin began with temptation (transgression) – – she listened to the evil one and he kept punching her with all the positives of ‘taking and eating’ and she finally gave in. “When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate………………”.
When she saw……it was good/it was a delight/it was desirable………………she TOOK. And THAT is what turned us upside down for ever BUT…. God had a plan and took care of it so that we could rise above what had happened to us IF……IF……IF, down the road we would keep our eyes fixed on the One who was going to come into the world to live…to die…to rise again…and lift us into the heavenly glory of our Heavenly Father through SALVATION.
Tremendous times are ahead for us as we study together in the months to come, the Lord willing.
In His Care….
