Those two bookends……

……another book (chapter/month) goes on the shelf between the bookends of birth and death.  So many “books” are between the two bookends now.  I look at the “book” of May and see so much joy that fills part of the space between the two bookends.

May 14th.  I completed another year of living.  84 now.

May 17th.  It was 66 years ago that I accepted Christ as my Savior.

May 28th.  It was 52 years ago that my son, Dave, accepted Christ at the Billy Graham Crusade in Winnipeg.

May 30th.  It was also 52 years ago that my daughter, Jan, accepted Christ at the Billy Graham Crusade in Winnipeg.

Well.  With all of us saved, we lived a life totally empty of problems – only had the joys that fill life with happiness and only good things.   Ha Ha Ha  Don’t I wish.  THAT was not so.  It started a life of total upheaval.  Hardly a day or week, for sure when we didn’t have problems of one kind or another.  No one to blame. And I mean that too.

Satan had been waiting in the wings.  He knew he had a family whereby he could dig his heels in and express himself in ways that really only he knew how to do.  But through it all the Lord hovered and was there, never to leave us.  It is strange how Satan and the Lord work.

Satan is excited about what he can do to us.  Check out Job and his first family.  God told him he could do any thing that he wanted to, to Job but he could not take his life.  Remember that?  So he took EVERYTHING that he had – – everything!!!!  Oh, of course, not Mrs Job.  She was working for Satan, so let’s keep her!!!!!!

But Job stood tall and would not concede to Satan and God blest him with a second family and a life that was so worth living.

Speaking for my own life, The Lord hovered and never left.  I turned my back at times but still came back time and again to where I KNEW was the only place that would bring me to Eternity at the right time in my life.  The Lord is always hovering – – always waiting for us to come to Him not because He is dragging us but because we “want” to be where we know we should be in order for the blessing to be ours as we live daily.

Remember in Revelation?  “Behold I stand at the door and knock. If any man hear My voice AND OPEN THE DOOR, I will come in to him and sup with him and he with Me.” (Emphasis mine).  AND OPEN THE DOOR.  We are not robots that are led/directed by Him.  We have a part in our relationship with Him.  ALWAYS.  First John 1:9 reads, “If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”  He is faithful and just but we have to confess first.  He already knows every sin we will commit in our lifetime and Jesus died ONCE for all of the sins between my bookends.  There is no charge to me for forgiveness.  All I have to do is NOT TO ASK for it but to ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I HAVE SINNED.  He already knows I have sinned and He has already paid the price and I am forgiven in one sense but it is registered to my account when I ACKNOWLEDGE that I have sinned.  And not in general terms either.  We need to be specific.  Yes.  Every night we have sins from the day to confess. Should you believe that you don’t have any sins to confess nightly, better be careful of that.  Don’t be in generality but be specific.  We each have sins of omission and also commission DAILY in our lives.  His Word says, “if we say we have not sinned we make Him a liar and His Word is not in us.”  That falls right on the heels of 1John 1:9.

The same is true for you.  Do you now Him as your personal Savior?  You can.  So easy.  No course to take. Nothing. Just reach out and say yes to Him.  Acknowledge that you are a sinner.  Thank Him for what He did for you long ago at Calvary. And then ACCEPT His free gift salvation.  THEN FORGET “WHERE” YOU HAVE BEEN AND WHAT YOU DID.  It is forgiven.

This is where satan comes in again and chips away at us.  We humans “remember” what we have done.  God says He will cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  He remembers our sin(s) no more (that are confessed).  It was once said that “God takes our sins and throws them in his deepest ocean and then puts a sign on top that reads, ‘ABSOLUTELY No Fishing!’ ”

No.  You will not forever be without sinning – you will continue.  But You have the Savior who will work on your behalf and present you some day to our Heavenly Father and we will be together with Him for all time.

And so tomorrow as I am writing, it will be June first.  Another important milestone for me as well. I have the month of June off from my piano work at The Shepherd’s Gate church.  What a church.  What a pastor.

We were at the end of the service and Pastor Jere was giving the announcements when all of a sudden he said, “I just gotta do this. Come on Bob”.  And so I saw the two of them headed my way and I was wondering how I was going to get out of the way for whatever they were headed to do.  Butttttttt.  They were headed for me.  Long story short.  Several others came to the piano bench and they all laid hands on me and prayed.  The upcoming surgery was much on their minds as well.  I was and am, so humbled by the love of each and every person there and my pastor who is so good with his preaching.  On May 26th, he did not use a single note for his message. So blest in every way.

June 3rd I will have a total knee replacement at 7:30 in the a.m.  Od is spending his vacation with the Kimber Pet Wash and Suites.  Here is a picture of the “hotel” portion and also a picture of one of the suites.

This is one of the “suites”.  His duffle bag is ready plus his blanket/food/meds and lots of love.

Then to top all of this off, June 3rd, my daughter, Jan, will complete her 60th year of living.  Oh my!  Was it really 60 whole years ago that I had my second child?  Wow.  How the years pass.

I have a portrait of Jan in her wedding gown which was worn years later by one of her daughters.  So special.  She was the loveliest of lovelies.  I am sure that every young lady looks back to that day and it never dims in their heart and soul.  Jan grew up to be a lovely woman; daughter, wife, mother and now g’mother.  How the years take on newness, change, and loveliness of the heart and soul when it belongs to the Lord.  No matter what comes your way, you know you can make it because of Him and Him alone!!!!

How I wish we could live some years over once again for their beauty in our lives.  But life has no dress rehearsals – it is only one time through.  No repeats.  What we do for Christ is all that is important.  And it is all that lasts.

May God bless.  May God forgive.  May God extend His mercy in places where we have made messes and help us Lord – please help each of us to fix our eyes on You and You alone.  You are our only Hope.

Mega Blessings to my readers.  Marge H.  Let June begin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
