All of us in our pilgrimage to the heavenly city know troubles, sorrows, and trials. Every pilgrim finds the road rough and difficult. As John Bunyan’s Pilgrim in Pilgrim’s Progress, we find ourselves in times of despondency climbing up hills of difficulty and facing giants of doubt and discouragement. It is then that many of us fall into faintheartedness and failure. To the person who does not have God as his strength and his Savior, life is a hopeless affair. The godless person always feels hopeless, for trial and trouble drive happiness and joy out of a person’s life.
This world is either a place where there is no God anywhere, or it is a place where the one true God is everywhere. There is no middle ground. This world is either without cause, without meaning, without purpose, without destiny, or else it is our Father’s house, and He keeps watch above His own.
