Which one do I choose? So many of them out there and they are all evil. Twenty groups have a “Jesus” attached to them and what a mess of definitions!!! I am going to list a few for your consideration.
Who was Jesus?
“He was created as a spirit child by the Father and Mother in heaven.”
“He is the son of Zachariah, not born of a virgin.”
“Jesus is not the one true God. He is not a savior, but a spiritual model and guru.”
“Jesus is one of many manifestations of God. Each manifestation supersedes the previous, giving new teachings.”
“Jesus is not God. Before he lived on earth, he was Michael, the archangel.”
Who IS Jesus??
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. John 1:1: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God.”
Jesus Christ is a part of the Trinity, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
I believe He died in my place over two thousand years ago. I believe He rose from the grave. I believe He will return for His own at a time not given to us to know. I believe that I am forgiven of all of my sins that I have committed or ever will commit, because of the shredding of His blood on the cross where He died in my place. ONCE. He dies ONCE for all sin.
Having said that, it does not mean that I can keep on sinning and I am forgiven. Not at all. All known sin of commission or omission, as it comes to mind needs to be placed under the blood. And there are times in our lives as we live that we do not recall sinning but the Word says that “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Because of the happenings with Adam and Eve, the sin nature will always be with me – – with you – – but we keep it under control by our constant dependency upon our Lord and Savior by the faith that we have in the Cross and the blood that was shed.
We live by faith and faith alone. Explainable? Easy to do? ABSOLUTELY NOT. But He is faithful. We need to stay “prayed up” every day of our lives. He is faithful. He knows our hearts. He knows “who” belongs to Him and “who” does not.
Tomorrow night, one of the pieces I am playing was written by Bill and Gloria Gaither, entitled “Something About That Name”.
Ah……yes……there is ‘something about that name’. Kings and Kingdoms will all pass away but there’s something about that name.
Don Francisco wrote a song entitled, “He’s Alive”. He wrote this with Peter in mind. Some of the words go like this.
“…….as I looked into his eyes love was shining out from him like sunlight from the sky. Guilt and my confusion disappeared in sweet release, and every fear I’d ever had just melted into peace.
“HE’S ALIVE….HE’S ALIVE….HEAVEN’S GATES ARE OPEN WIDE….HE’S ALIVE. HE’S ALIVE!!!!
Yes, dear friend, dear reader, dear non-believer………There is Something About that Name and HE IS ALIVE. And He is waiting with open arms for you right now.
In His loving arms held by His nail-scarred hands.
P.S. Are you concerned about the Bible being outdated, old, nothing to use today!!!!!!! Let me give you a hint of just how up to date it is.
The Ten Commandments in Exodus. Written a long time ago. Right? Well. Today there are NO NEW SINS. Only what is written in the Commandments. Oh yes. New ways of committing them, but NO NEW SINS – – just the ones listed there.
When the last book on the earth is published, the Bible will still be the most current. Like it or not.. …. .. That is the way IT IS!!!!!!!!!!!
