………..to get into a Study whereby I can focus on areas of my life that need work. I watch others and I simply don’t have women cross my path that make me think, “THAT is the kind of a woman I want to be”. No one shows forth seeking God and being willing to follow as He leads. Words are not important to me….Actions shine forth where our allegiance is and how solid that allegiance is. In the book of James, he says basically, the faith you have is the faith you show.
I desperately want to focus more on God and His will for my life. I want to be more aware of the areas where I have potential growth. Not talking about talents or Gift.
A book written by Herbert Lockyer entitled, All the Women of the Bible stands out to me as telling me that God used women in the OT and NT times. Those women were not mealy-mouthed. They did not stand with one foot on each side of the track so that no one “gets offended”. (That kind of a person is a whimp) And certainly that kind of a person is not one you want to be like. They went about the business that God gave them to do with a huge foundation of faithfulness, strength, and willingness to do what was necessary. And above all, “obedience” stands out with beaming lights, as their guide.
God used so many of the women of “that day and time” and they were successful. It is one thing to be seeking Him but quite another to “follow” because in following you have to obey.
God used ordinary women. He is still in that business. I am a woman and I am ordinary and I want to be used. I have some major dental work coming up and won’t feel too much like turning the world upside down when that day comes so this is a good time to delve into a Study that I can begin now and work on when all I feel like doing is to sit. When Thanksgiving week arrives. (Nov. 19th) I am hopeful I will begin to feel better by then, and will begin to post again on 11/19. Butttt. Have to wait and see.
I want to study the Book of James. No place does he write of his relationship to Jesus. James was called a half brother of Jesus. He was very opposed to Jesus. We do not hear of him being at the Cross that awful day long ago. He was not a believer to begin with but, after the Resurrection, he was converted by a special one on one private interview with the risen Lord. (1 Cor. 15:7). He was made a Bishop of the church at Jerusalem (Acts 15:13-21) and in due time became the James that wrote the Book on Trials – – The Epistle of JAMES.
In verses 22-26, he writes, “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only , deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he (she) is like a man (woman) observing his (her) natural face in a mirror, for he (she) observes himself (herself), goes away and immediately forgets what kind of man (woman) he (she) was. But he (she) who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he (she) does.” (parenthesis mine)
So….enjoy the next few days as we walk out the door of October and turn our eyes and hearts to “Thanksgiving”. We have so much to be thankful for. I’ll share some of those things closer to Thanksgiving week. (my 11th Thanksgiving without the love of my life)
Til then……It’s a new day…a new way… but the same love.
