“I have seen the business that God has given to the sons of men to be busy with. He has made everything beautiful in its time; also he has put eternity into man’s mind, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.” (Ecclesiastes 3:10,11)
“….knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days walking according to their own lusts 4) and saying, ‘Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation. 5) For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, 6) by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. 7) But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. 8) But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day 9) The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is long-suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. 10) But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. 11) Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12) looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? (2 Peter 3:3-12).
Remember the story of Noah and the Ark? The people had not seen rain yet at that time. There was only a fine mist that God gave the earth. Have you ever thought about what the people thought as they looked at this “stuff” coming down out of the sky? Little did they know it would bring them to their death rather soon.
Everything on the earth was consumed by the water – the rain. Nothing was left except those in the Ark.
But next time there is total destruction God will do it with heat – with fire. No my friend. This is not my thinking. It is not some commentator’s thinking. It is right out of God’s Word.
Ray Stedman in one of his articles on Time wrote, “We view time as an absolute, and as a single dimension measured by a fixed master clock. In reality time is multidimensional and we are trapped in one-dimensional linear time (because of the fall). We are unable to see the broader perspective of eternity. Our vision is too narrow and needs some stretching.”
He continues, “Yes, something more is coming something so different from anything we have known up to now that it defies description. Yet it is something so splendid and glorious that, even whispered, it sends chills of expectation down the spine of the universe.”
When a Christian dies he passes from the realm of time and space into timelessness. We cannot understand this. John 5:25 reads, “Truy, truly, I say to you, the hour is coming and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the son of God, and those who hear will live.”
Time is an element hard to reconcile with any thing. Our minds cannot comprehend as does God’s mind. We must humbly “trust”. We need to move in our “time” daily so that we do not waste a moment of it.
I do not understand time. But I believe that I could write a book one hundred years from now and God would already have read it way back before I was even born. BECAUSE!!!!! God knows it all from beginning to end.
This is why the Ten Commandments written over 3,000 years ago, are as up to date today as they were then. No new sin. God knew our time, our days, our generation(s) back even before Moses began working for Him. God knew/knows it all!
I remember as Green Acres prepared my husband to leave our home never to be back there, that Loren had lived for a time in history. His life was given in making a difference to living on this planet. Maybe just in the one man’s life, but it was done. I know personally men who came to know our Lord because it was the Lord using Loren to testify through his actions and attitudes and words and come alongside them to be there for them as they would begin a new territory in living.
I think back to Loren and me having 30 years in retirement. That is a very long, long time when you stand at the entrance of the 30 year period and look forward. Who ever you are reading my post right now, give some thought to your own life and that of your mate and think ahead – – – what will life be like for you 10, 20, even 30 years from now should the Lord tarry and should you live that long.
At the end of our 30 years together, Loren was 98 and I was 73. And 30 years before that, he was 68 and I was 43. But this one thing I can say to you: That long period of time – – – 30 years. 10,950 days, 262,800 hours – – – was all over, finished, done with, 10 years and 4 months ago.
Our minds do not, cannot comprehend any of this. The Word is FULL of expressions on time.
“The world and its desires pass away but whoever does the will of God lives forever.” 1John 2:17. What is the “will of God”? It is given in the word of God.
“My times are in your hands; deliver me from the hands of my enemies, from those who pursue me.” Psa. 31:15.
“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come.” Mark 13:32,33.
“Be very careful then, how you live – – not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.” Ephes. 5:15-17. What is the Lord’s will? Absolutely! It is found clear as crystal in the Word.
You foolish people! You who cannot lean totally on our Heavenly Father and His Word, you are most to be pitied. And prayed for because you are absolutely lost. God is complete. God is absolute. God does not lie. In the beginning, God. If God was in the beginning….if God knows everything, past, present and future, why would He need any one else to “help” Him? He has His Son whom He gave that we might have life and have it more abundantly. God does not need anyone to help Him with you and you will not ever, this day, tomorrow, next week, next month, next year, or on your dying day, never will you find the verse in the Bible that tells you He has a helper except for His Son Jesus Christ and we have been told explicitly how He was coming to earth, and what He would have to sacrifice for each of us and what would happen if we did not accept what He did on the cross two thousand years ago. It is all in God’s Word. So is Satan. He is going to make as much difficulty for people as he can but I can tell you he is a whimp when compared to the Living God. Satan and all his cohorts along with all who think they are doing God’s way but can’t find it in the Bible, will forever and ever burn. Oh. I might add. That is all in the Word as well.
Happy looking. Happy studying. Happy finding all that is there that comes from God’s Hand to………….you!!
