God is a God of love but……………
————He certainly will not stand for any fooling around. He means business. And yes! He is a God of love, but He is also a God of justice. One cannot sit on the fence. You either believe or you don’t believe. You either accept Jesus’ teachings or you don’t.
I have been studying some verses and I want to post them for your pondering as well.
“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God – – having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them” 2 Tim. 3:2.
Here’s the next one.
“Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law, and a man’s enemies will be those of his own household” Matt. 10:34-36.
And one more.
“And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet. Assuredly, I say to you it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city” Matt. 10:14, 15.
I wanted you to read these and let them sink in. This is raw. This is two thousand years ago. Can you believe that this is a part – – a very real part of life today in 2018!!!!
We are definitely in the last days. No two cents about that!!
Paul wrote to Timothy. Calls him “beloved son”. He was Timothy’s mentor.
The verses in Matthew were words spoken by Christ, himself. In Matt. 10;34-36, He did not mean literally that He would bring a sword. The key element here is that He may split the family. Jesus will win as many to His side as possible even if it divides the world in two but it will never be a violent division.
He will make no exceptions. It is His way or none. But He will never take prisoners of war. Nothing will be done violently. It will be the choices made by the human beings and that will divide. There is no slipping over onto His side because of being a good person. There is no place in the Word where that possibility is a possibility.
I would like to take you to one more passage. This one has forever caused me goose pimples and scares me. It is so awful.
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord’, shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!” Matt. 7:21-23
NINE WORDS out of the above verses tells exactly what He wants, what He expects and in one way, what He demands. No ifs, ands, or buts. Those nine words: “who does the will of My Father in heaven”. What is the will of His Father? We have studied that before!!
That is a lot for your plate. Digest it thoroughly.
Until next time. Marge
