Wonderful November 2nd! My beloved Loren’s 108th birthday would have been today, November 2, 2017.
I remember so well all the wonderful celebrations we had with friends. Never will forget those wonderful times. Isn’t it just the greatest how the Lord, in all of His creating of us, chose to give us happy times together. Times that could not be erased when the harsh winds of reality would set in. When times of the cane, or the walker, or the wheelchair, or the oxygen became the “need” of the moment, we would hurry on to make even the oxygen as possible as we could with love.
Snatches of life come to mind like a bubble – – and then burst. There was a little place upstairs, in downtown Winnipeg, called Hy’s Steakhouse. (You Winnipegers remember the place??) Every anniversary in Winnipeg we would go there. So quaint. So romantic. A moment in time for two hearts sooooooo in love. THOUSANDS of moments from the Winnipeg era come to mind and flood the heart.
Many more moments flood the heart from our retirement years – – all 30 of them together. Thirty!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had friends who couldn’t stand the retirement years – bored stiff – she went back to work and he rocked in his rocking chair with no hobbies and literally rocked himself into the grave. Us? We NEVER had enough time in a day, or in a week. NEVER!!!!
Oh My!!!!! Elizabeth Barrett Browning, an English poet of the Romantic Movement, lived from 1806 to 1861. Here is a part of one of her most famous writings ~~~~~~
HOW DO I LOVE THEE ~~~~~~~
Yes. “I love thee to the depth and breadth and height my soul can reach when feeling out of sight for the ends of being and ideal grace.
Further down in her poem, she continued:
“I love thee with the breath, smiles, tears of all my life and, if God choose I shall but love thee better after death”
Til then, my darling. Marge
